In 2005, in the wake of the devastating tsunami that struck the coast of the Indian Ocean, DACHSER and the international children’s rights organization Terre des Hommes joined forces to make a difference. What began with a first project in India, a country that was not a focus of international aid at the time, has developed into a deep, strategic partnership. Today, DACHSER and Terre des Hommes can look back on successful projects in more than a dozen countries. Helping people help themselves has borne fruit thousands of times over and enabled children to lead better, self-determined lives.

In a publication marking the anniversary we outline our strategic approach and the path we have taken together since 2005. The brochure provides insights into projects, highlights successes, but also challenges and the resulting prospects.
All of this reflects the responsibility of the Dachser family business: the duty to act entrepreneurially as a corporate citizen, but also to have a lasting social impact—both locally and globally. Above all else is the realization that in a world of increasing uncertainty and tangible consequences of climate change, solidarity and standing up for one another are fundamental.

Education, environmental protection, and human rights

The projects that DACHSER and Terre des Hommes are setting up together with local partner organizations for children, and girls in particular, therefore focus on education, environmental protection, and human rights. In addition, they promote personal initiative and entrepreneurship. “DACHSER was founded by my grandfather as a single company, even during the global economic crisis. If we can empower young people in developing and emerging countries to take control of their own lives today, then all our work will have been worthwhile,” says Bernhard Simon, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at DACHSER.

“The cooperation with DACHSER is an example of effective and authentic corporate commitment to children’s and human rights worldwide,” says Joshua Hofert, Director of Communications at Terre des Hommes Germany. “We hope that the publication will inspire new ways of working together. Because the future is created where people take responsibility together.
