DACHSER invests 20 million euros in new logistics center in Northern Spain

DACHSER Iberia is investing approximately 20 million euros in a new logistics center in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The facility will strengthen northern Spain’s connection to European markets and create additional capacity for international cargo flows.
Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the Spanish Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, is situated at the intersection of major transportation routes between the Iberian Peninsula, France, and the rest of Europe. Since July, DACHSER has been building a new facility in the Júndiz industrial park that specifically capitalizes on this location. The company is investing approximately 20 million euros in the logistics center, which is scheduled to begin operations in the summer of 2027.
With this new facility, DACHSER is expanding its operational capacity in Northern Spain and creating an additional hub for exports to Europe. Companies in the region that ship their goods internationally will benefit in particular from closer integration into the European network.

New logistics center in Vitoria-Gasteiz creates capacity for growth
Flexibly scalable logistics space is being developed on a 50,000-square-meter site. The transshipment warehouse will initially cover 9,200 square meters and can be expanded to 12,700 square meters. In addition, there will be 1,900 square meters of office space.
More than 90 loading docks and 140 parking spaces for swap bodies ensure efficient handling of domestic and international cargo flows. Once operational, the facility will be able to process more than 2,000 shipments and approximately 1,000 metric tons of goods daily. The focus is on palletized goods for transport to the Iberian Peninsula, the rest of Europe, the Balearic and Canary Islands, and Morocco.

A digital and sustainable logistics hub
The facility is also technologically state-of-the-art. It utilizes the award-winning @ILO digital twin. The system enables real-time tracking and monitoring of packages in the transshipment warehouse, thereby supporting faster and more transparent handling processes.
The new facility is being built in accordance with DACHSER’s quality and sustainability standards. Plans include efficiency certifications, a modern energy management system, and a photovoltaic system that will cover part of the energy demand. Energy-efficient lighting, intelligently monitored climate control, and charging stations for electric trucks and cars round out the concept.

Logistics hub between Spain and Europe

The new terminal complements the existing DACHSER branch in Vitoria-Gasteiz and brings key services closer together. Customers in the region will benefit in the future from a more tightly integrated combination of warehousing, order fulfillment, and domestic and international transportation.
